The Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra is once again delighted to return in four Autumn concerts with a line up of enthusiastic young musicians with endless talent, improvisational skills, exuberance and verve.
The future for jazz in Scotland is assured as these gifted players, under the direction of Scotland’s most distinguished jazz musician, Tommy Smith play a repertoire ranging from Ellington, Basie, Mingus and Gillespie classics to present day big band charts by Fred Sturm and Florian Ross.
They will bring alive this music and play with a collective maturity well beyond their years and feature soloists of startling ambition and creativity. Bring your family and friends to enjoy three relaxing afternoons of jazz standards, new pieces and upbeat joyful jazz or come to the late night jazz session in Glasgow = there is something for everyone.
